Dear Member,
First, thank you for your loyalty and support during this unprecedented period in our collective history. We hope you’ve been able to maintain a strong commitment to your health and fitness in this time of quarantine.
Governor Wolf will allow Erie to enter into the Green Phase of his reopening plan on June 26, 2020. In this phase gyms will be allowed to reopen. LECOM Medical Fitness and Wellness Center will be delaying reopening once Erie enters the Green Phase. At this time we do not have a reopening date set. We’re still exploring the science surrounding the spread of COVID-19 within the Erie community as well as mitigation processes. We will provide additional updates once we have that information, which will be posted on lecomwellness.com, LECOM Wellness Center social media channels, and sent via email.
Upon anticipated reopening, we will be a changed Center. This is due to the inability to immediately offer all amenities to which you’ve been accustomed, but plan to open up all center offerings over time. We will be enhancing our cleaning procedures, so we can provide you with an even safer wellness experience than before COVID-19. We will have occupancy limitations within the facility, to allow for appropriate social distancing. You will also undergo a screening process in order to gain entry to the facility, which will be scheduled in advance of your visit.
In this initial phase of reopening, only the Fitness Floor, locker rooms, and bathrooms will be accessible, with occupancy limitations set for each. We have adjusted the layout of the Fitness Floor to allow at least six feet between members when using any piece of fitness equipment. Access to the locker rooms will be limited to lockers and vanity areas only. Community amenities such as hairspray, deodorant, body lotion, and shaving cream will not be provided during the first reopening phase, due to the high number of contacts among users. The showers, saunas, steam rooms, and whirlpools will not be available until state guidelines or the research has deemed these areas to be safe for public use.
We appreciate your patience as we determine a date to reopen. Please stay safe and healthy when Erie County transitions into the Green Phase, and we hope to see you at the Wellness Center soon.
